SERVICE DOGS

Harbour Air recognizes that certified service dogs provide important services. Please familiarize yourself with the below travel requirements.

Service Dogs

  • Your service dog must be trained to perform tasks to assist a person with a disability.
  • Your service dog must be individually trained by an organization or person specializing in service dog training.
  • Your service dog must meet all the travel, entry and exit requirements of the destination to which you are travelling

Reserving Travel

  • If you wish to travel with your service dog, you must complete the required documentation and submit to the Customer Contact Centre at least 48 hours prior to departure. Note that we will make a reasonable effort to accommodate requests made within 48 hours.
  • By asking your service dog’s size, weight, and other characteristics, we will assess the space requirements for your service dog.

At the terminal and in the aircraft

  • Your service dog must always remain under control and must be harnessed, held on a leash, or tethered when not in a kennel.
  • Service dogs will be permitted to travel inside the cabin of the aircraft. We pre-board the service dog and passenger and try our best to keep the dog as close to the passengers as possible as required for disability needs. The dog’s short harness must be secured through a seatbelt at all times during the flight.
  • Note if a dog presented as a service dog acts in a manner inconsistent with a service dog in the terminal or on the aircraft, we reserve the right to treat the dog as a pet, adhering to the pet policy. Behaviour that is inconsistent with a service dog includes:
    • Acting aggressively by biting, barking, jumping, lunging or injuring people
    • Acting in an out of control manner, i.e. running around and jumping on other passengers
